Lecture by Actors for Religious Dialogue in Nigeria Held in Hamburg

University of Hamburg Germany - 23rd September 2011, witnessed an extraordinary lecture from Peace Counts Forum, titled “The Interreligious Dialogue in Nigeria.” This event saw two great actors for peaceful dialogue - Dr.James Wuye, (Pastor) & Dr.Muhamad Ashafa, Imam from Nigeria who were at the lecture which was presented by Micheal Gleich, a Journalist and Initiator of Peace Counts and Sofia Zeiler, from the Institute of Peace Educational Theory Tübingen Inc.

Imam Muhamad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye took part in the 1990s bloody religious conflict in Nigeria. During the years of the killings, the Imam lost two of his brothers as well as his teacher. Besides, the pastor also lost a hand. Their religion was first an instrument for power tussle but now a reconciliation channel for both parties.

Today both are the main co-ordinators of the Interfaith Mediation Centre in the Muslim-Christian Dialogue Forum in Kaduna -Nigeria. They try to lead the way as an example and teach the Christian and Muslim Militia to settle IMGP2 their conflict through peaceful means.

The Nigerian Community Germany Inc. supports this initiative and consequently, many of her members were in attendance. Many German and other Africans attended the lecture. In the words of one key member of The Nigerian Community Germany, “The work of the two courageous ecclesiastical Personalities is loudly welcomed by the Nigerian Community here and we pray that the present government encourages and supports this peaceful movement”

This is a most encouraging peace initiative, which deserves the support of all [censored]ians.
I thank the [censored]ian Community in Germany for organising and supporting the presentation by these religious leaders.
